On Saturday NASA Gulf South held a session of Parade Laps in honor of Dan Brown. His wife Kim, also presented the "Dan Brown Spirit of Racing Award" to one of the NASA drivers! All of Saturday’s parade lap fees were donated to Racing for ALS. So far, they have raised over $2,275 and funds are still coming in!
We can't thank NASA Gulf South, Kim Brown, and Michelle Ginsburg enough for all their hard work in making this possible!
"The Dan Brown Spirit of Racing Award for the 2025 Race Season was presented at NOLA this weekend. The recipient is a NASA Gulf South driver who best exemplifies the passion, resilience, and sportsmanship that defined Dan Brown's decade of competition at NOLA Motorsports Park. This award honors any participant who faces adversity with courage, competes with integrity, and uplifts the racing community through support of their fellow competitors. It is a recognition not of lap times, but of the enduring spirit required to race against the odds.
Dan Brown joined NASA in 2014, establishing himself as a competitor at NOLA Motorsports Park. Between 2014 and 2018, he was a fixture in the Time Trial circuit, most notably piloting the KILO Brands Acura Integra Type R. Dan also participated in HPDE as an instructor and showcased his endurance and teamwork in 24 Hours of Lemons racing. He truly enjoyed utilizing his technical expertise and track experience to train new drivers.
Dan made his final appearance on the track in March 2023. Two months later, he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. Dan lost his battle with ALS in August 2025.
This weekend’s event is dedicated to Dan’s memory."
