Normally I would post this on my personal stuff, but he was a part of this business for a while so I figured I would share the story and news with you guys on here as well since many of you got to know him also:
Around 2011, this guy came in to bring me parts with Herman, while I was just starting in this industry. He was already established in this game. His passion was present to me from day 1. We would cross paths at 2K and the big meets. Always saying “What’s good homie” with a beer in hand.
His talents were up there, and he was always sought after working at most of the big shops we all know today. As I grew and opened R&S, I was no different. Finally around 2020 I had the chance to hire him for myself. For the few of us who had the chance to have him, we all know how much of a headache that can be sometimes. But I spent that time learning more about what I didn’t know and teaching him it was okay to slow down a little and just make it pretty. He loved his damn tips, tricks and shortcuts.
He eventually left here to go somewhere else, and then begin his own shop. I remember him telling me. “Brother, I couldn’t have been more fu***ng proud of you.” We even talked about it when you were with me.
He popped by about a month ago on his way back from TSP to check out the new place, and catch up. Never imagined that’s the last time I will have got to bu****it with you when I heard you passed away yesterday.
While he built a lot of things, his biggest build was working on bettering himself for his 2 kids. If you kids read this, your old man loved you. Jess, when you made varsity he was so excited and proud. I will remember that day. Aug, he would always say “dammit boi, just like me.”
Rene Aguilar, thank you. For being kind to my kids when they were in the shop. For stressing me out by showing up late as f**k, on the days you would come in, saying “Hoody Hooo” to announce your arrival. Then just getting to work like nothing happened.
Race, Ride, and above all else, Rest in paradise man. I will miss you friend, we all will. Until next time brother.
