2019 Ram 3500 in the shop getting set up the right way.
This truck is a little different because it’s equipped with a 68RFE transmission, even though most 3500s are commonly found with the Aisin. Since this one has the 68RFE, we’re doing engine tuning, transmission tuning, and hard part installation.
This setup includes our custom CCV switch-on-the-fly tuning through the DEF gauge, with on-the-fly hiss and rumble options. This specific tune is set up for a 0–150HP power range.
Since the truck still has a stock 68RFE, we also installed transmission tuning to help improve drivability and longevity. This file is set up with 160–225 PSI line pressure tuning. Even though the tune is capable of requesting up to 225 PSI, the stock 68RFE usually cannot physically make that pressure and will typically be limited around 160–180 PSI. We still build the file this way so if the truck ever gets a built transmission, the tuning is already ready for higher line pressure.
This truck also received:
Reworked torque converter lockup strategy
Improved shift strategy
Underdrive pulse turned off
Adjusted line pressure tables
Additional shift changes to help the 68RFE live longer
Nothing makes a 68RFE bulletproof, especially if you drive it with a heavy foot, but proper tuning definitely helps. At minimum, we always recommend a high-pressure valve body and a deep transmission pan for better pressure control and cooling.
