Engine sludge is one of those issues most drivers never see — but it can have a big impact on long-term engine reliability.

We recently had a BMW come in with an intermittent noise with the engine running. Our technician found the crankcase ventilation valve causing the issue. During disassembly to perform the repair, he found visible sludge buildup inside the engine.

Sludge can develop over time when oil service(s) are delayed, incorrect oil is used, or the vehicle’s driving conditions are especially demanding. That buildup can affect oil flow and increase wear on internal engine components.

Our goal is not just to repair vehicles after something goes wrong. It is to help import owners understand what their vehicle needs and make confident maintenance decisions before small issues become bigger ones.
