RV Water Heater Anode Rod – Why It Matters

Most RV owners don’t realize this, but your water heater has a built-in sacrificial part called an anode rod. Its only job is to corrode instead of your water heater tank.
If the anode rod is gone… the tank is next.

We recommend checking your anode rod at least once a year, or sooner if you travel often or use hard water. If it’s 50% worn or more, it’s time to replace it.

A $20–$40 anode rod can save you from replacing a $1,000+ water heater—simple, cheap insurance.
