What does a clay bar actually do? It doesn't remove scratches, make the paint shiny again or take off water spots. Run a little bag or a latex glove over your paint: if it feels gritty, like sandpaper, that's bonded contaminants (iron filings, brake dust, rail dust, sap) that won't just wash off. Clay pulls them off so the paint is smooth again. Think of the dermatologist, not the facial scrub.

Brand new car? This is the first thing to do. Skip the dealership protection packages and come see us. Does a ceramic coating lock in swirls? It locks in whatever state the paint is in when it goes on, scratches, swirls, water spots, oxidation. It isn't permanent: paint correct it later and the coating comes right off with it. Think sunscreen: you want the paint in a state you're happy with first, so you're preserving something beautiful and not Shrek.
