🏍️ SURVIVING OUR STREETS RIDER TIP
The Heat Can Be Just As Dangerous As Traffic
Las Vegas broke 100° this week, and summer is just getting started.
Most riders worry about distracted drivers, but heat exhaustion and dehydration can be just as dangerous. When your body overheats, your reaction time slows, your focus drops, and simple decisions become harder to make.
The scary part?
Many riders don't realize they're dehydrated until it's already affecting them.
☀️ Start hydrating BEFORE your ride.
If you're thirsty, you're already behind.
☀️ Avoid energy drinks and excessive caffeine.
They can contribute to dehydration, especially during long rides.
☀️ Wear proper gear.
A lightweight, ventilated riding jacket is often cooler and safer than riding in a t shirt. Direct sun exposure can actually increase body temperature and speed up dehydration.
☀️ Take breaks.
If you're feeling tired, dizzy, irritable, or getting a headache, find shade and cool down.
☀️ Watch for warning signs:
✔ Headache
✔ Muscle cramps
✔ Excessive sweating
✔ Dizziness
✔ Confusion
✔ Nausea
☀️ Don't forget your passengers.
Children, elderly riders, and passengers often experience heat related issues sooner than the rider.
A motorcycle can be replaced.
You can't replace your health.
This summer, make hydration part of your pre ride inspection.
Check your bike.
Check your gear.
Check your water.
And remember:
The ride isn't over until everyone gets home safely.
