Jeep's redesigned Cherokee is on the way!
A glance at this revealing sketch shows how the brand is paying homage to the OG Cherokee with a modern flair, thanks to the rectangular shaped headlights, boxy silhouette, trapezoidal wheel openings, and of course the 7-slot grille.
It's bigger than last gen in every dimension, too:
- 4.7" longer
- 1" wider
- 30% more cargo capacity -> 33.6 cu.ft. behind the rear seats and 68.3 cu.ft. in all
- 1" more rear legroom
Jeep also shared a bit about what we can't see from this drawing.
The rugged, but refined interior will have a horizontal, function-based layout with a cleaner aesthetic when compared to the previous gen.
At the helm you'll find a squircle steering wheel with a metal rotary shifter to engage the gears. The wireless phone charger will have ventilation to keep your device cool and there's a 10.25" configurable instrument cluster and 12.3" infotainment screen that is powered by UConnect 5 with an Alpine audio system. Jeep states that physical buttons / switches remain present for climate control.
This new Jeep keeps sustainability in mind by using non-leather and recycled or up-cycled materials (headliner), as well as materials from ocean waste (floor carpet).
Anti-microbial material will be used on the steering wheel and there's anti-squeak material on the seats.
We're looking forward to getting some seat time in one of these! What about you?
