Tommy's Auto & Performance Tommy's Auto & Performance is a local mom and pop shop in Atascadero, California, run by Tommy and Emily Bakar.

General automotive diagnosis, repair, and maintenance on gas and diesel vehicles as well as performance upgrades such as lift kits, leveling kits, suspension upgrades, turbos, injectors, and lift pumps. My wife Emily and I started this shop in January, 2019. Years of hearing about the poor stigma that comes with automotive shops and knowing of loved ones that have been repeatedly taken advantage of sparked a desire for us to open our own automotive shop. Our goal is to treat people as though they are family, serving them with honesty and providing them with quality automotive work. My passion for working on vehicles began at age 12 when I had an opportunity to work and learn about vehicles at a local tire shop. At this young age, I discovered my love for vehicles and serving people through them. Since then, I have been working in tire shops, off-road performance shops, as well as managing companies entire fleets of pick-ups, cranes, semis, and trailers. Our Mission:

2019 Toyota Highlander | 115,000 Miles 🔧
This Highlander came in with an overheating concern, and initially we were thinking we might be dealing with a blown head gasket.
As part of our diagnosis, we inspected the cylinders to check for damage. Unfortunately, we found something much worse than cylinder wall scarring. 😳
Cylinder #3 had a massive crack running the entire length of the cylinder wall.
Unfortunately, this is one of those diagnoses that comes with some difficult news. The engine is beyond repair and will need to be replaced.
This is why proper diagnostics matter. Before making repair recommendations, it’s important to understand the full extent of the damage and give the customer clear answers about their options moving forward. 💙🚗
