Dear car family,
The day has come to offer Kandi’s Rods & Kustoms to someone that sees the dream. The phone never stops ringing with new clients and work. We are slammed with jobs, both big and small. From rotisserie builds and hot rod repairs, to collision on newer vehicles. Unfortunately between a post pandemic world and my health; my specialist are saying it’s time to make memories and spend our time together as much as possible. I haven’t been able to work at the physical location for over a year and my husband Rob is pulling 3+ jobs due to my medical expenses and our finances. Therefore, as much as it crushes me, we are selling the business.
Kandi’s has built up a reputation for high quality builds, fabrications, and custom paint jobs over the last several years. Our leased building of nearly 18,000 square foot provides an array of large and open working areas that are divided into 3 large working sections. There’s also an inviting lobby, extra large general office, private office, and lunch room and lots of parking available.
Pre-Pandemic we had 7 employees and were booked approximately 3 years out on rotisserie builds, overhauls, and full paint jobs; not counting the smaller work in between, or the collision on newer vehicles.
We’ve been able to retain our reputation, and our quality, but like most small businesses are now lacking labor and other means to produce in a post pandemic world.
Kandi’s continues to have HUGE potential. A phenomenal reputation across multiple states and within a huge car community. A preferred classic repair shop with Hagerty. An in-house Matrix automotive finishes paint mix system from Shop Owners Warehouse is stationed behind the paint booth. We’re an accredited business with the BBB, and proud members of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce. Not to mention busy phones and lots of work to be had.
We’ve also built a reputation with other businesses and well known names like Counts Customs, House of Mouse Racing, Revved Up Motor Co. Box Performance Inc. and others. The work is here. I could book us up for the next 5 years or more on high quality classic car builds.
The Kandi’s name, along with a large variety of shop equipment will be included. We will stay on for up to 3 months to help finish the current jobs that are in progress. During that time we will also assist in bringing in the new jobs, establishing business to client reputations, promoting the shop and new owners with videos, updating the website, etc.
We will assist the buyer in a meeting with the building owners to discuss the business staying on busy Claremont Ave, unless the potential buyer wants to relocate.
We are not looking to get rich, we are looking to get out of our debt. The last year the two of us haven’t been able to give the shop our time with my health. Finding skilled employees has been beyond difficult. The dream, the work, the cars, the flow is here, but we can not do it with just a few people. Kandi’s needs an owner and manager that can give it what we gave a few years ago when my health was so much better.
We are offering two buying options. One is without the Nova and the other is with our 72 Nova so the buyer has immediate advertising. While I’m not posting prices on here, if you’re seriously interested please contact me. We aren’t looking for a huge profit. We just need to be able to breathe again. For about the price of two Kandi’s builds, you could own the name, reputation, future work, and most of the equipment.
We’d like to get it sold before winter. Yes, I’m sad. I’m bawling. I was 4 years old building hot rod shops with my wood blocks and repairing my hot wheels cars. I wasn’t even 10 years old by the time my dad taught me how to restore my banana seat bike. This decision wasn’t over night. We decided a while ago, but it’s taken me this long to finally let go and realize, I can not do this. The pancreas disease and autoimmune are winning and I need to let go. My dream will hopefully be picked up by someone who sees the passion, is obsessed with the cars, and knows the market is here, heavy, profitable, and ready. I just haven’t been able to give it our all with my health and unfortunately our finances have suffered without us being there and in this post pandemic world.
I will do my best to answer any questions I can in messenger. The annual Hayesville Vol. Fire Dept. Cruise-In in October will continue despite these changes. Until I am no longer here I will continue to host the show for them.
