My 3 girls are VERY unimpressed with the Scooby Doo monster truck. 😂

I FINALLY convinced them to go for a ride…

First complaint: “Wait… there’s NO A/C?!” 🥵

Then I turn the key…

Nothing.

OUT. OF. GAS. ⛽️💀

We didn’t even make it out of the parking spot. 😂

I had ONE chance to prove Scooby was cool and somehow made it even LESS impressive.

Dad credibility is currently at an all time low. 😂

⚠️ DOES YOUR ENGINE SOUND LIKE IT’S SHAKING A CAN OF PENNIES? 😂

That startup RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE might be excessive timing chain slack.

Timing chains can loosen from worn guides, failing tensioners, high mileage, low oil pressure, or poor oil change history.

There is always a root cause to a part that fails and this damaged wiring harness on this 2014 express van is a perfect example of that! This express van came in with an intermittent transmission over temp light coming on while driving. During our inspection and testing we confirmed this issue along with erratic voltage regulation from the alternator. At times the transmission temp would increase to well over 300 degrees and charging voltage would drop to well below 11 volts. We noticed the condition would happen when hitting a bump in the road. We performed an inspection of the wiring harness and found at some point a major repair was done to the top of the engine and the harness we incorrectly routed and rubbed on an A/C line. We repairs the harness but the issue was still present. Unfortunately we suspected that this condition has been present for sometime and unfortunately it had damaged the alternator and transmission temperature sensor. Replaced those affected components and the condition was no longer present! Sometimes something as small as a chaffed wire can cause major repairs, but luckily we were able to find the root cause and get this van back on the road!

Watch what happens when I place my finger over the port on the oil trap.

The loud squeaking noise instantly disappears. That simple test tells us this 2018 Volvo XC90 Turbo has a failed PCV valve system.

At first glance, this squeaking noise could have easily been misdiagnosed as a worn serpentine belt, belt tensioner, or pulley. Instead, the failed PCV system was creating an internal vacuum leak that produced the squeaking sound.

That same vacuum leak also allowed unmetered air into the engine, causing a lean condition and preventing the turbocharger from building proper boost, which resulted in an underboost fault.

This is a perfect example of why proper diagnostics matter. One failed component created multiple symptoms, and replacing belts or pulleys would not have fixed the problem. Taking the time to identify the root cause saves our clients time, money, and unnecessary repairs.
