Spend the morning from the point of view of Owen Kilgore as he learns the ropes at the oil change station in our shop.

From checking fluids and changing oil to keeping vehicles moving through the service lane, Owen is getting hands-on experience and building the skills that keep our customers on the road.

Today is a bittersweet day at Bill Harris Chevrolet. After years of friendship, laughter, hard work, and countless memories, Gene LeMaster is officially heading into retirement.

We’re going to miss the heck out of him.

It’s hard to put into words what Gene has meant to this dealership and the people in it. For so many of us, he’s been a trusted coworker, a mentor, a friend, and a familiar face who always made the day a little better. Through all the changes, challenges, and successes over the years, Gene has been right there with us, faithfully helping write the story of Bill Harris Chevrolet and keeping it a family tradition.

Gene, thank you. Thank you for your dedication, your character, your sense of humor, and for the impact you’ve had on so many lives along the way.

While we’re sad to see this chapter come to an end, we’re excited for you to enjoy the retirement you’ve more than earned. We hope it’s filled with family, adventures, relaxation, and everything you’ve been looking forward to.

We’re not saying goodbye. We’ll see you around, friend.

To help us bring Military Appreciation Month to a close, we have a special video to share today. It’s an important conversation and could help save someone’s life.

Damon Hitchcock, retired U.S. Air Force veteran and Bill Harris Chevrolet Pre-Owned Sales Manager, sits down with his former Air Force supervisor and retired law enforcement and Department of Veteran Affairs, Mike Husted, to talk about service, veteran mental health, and the importance of checking in on the people around us.

According to the most recent VA data available, more than 6,400 veterans died by su***de in 2022. That’s about 17 veterans every day. The su***de rate among veterans also remains significantly higher than the rate among non-veteran U.S. adults.

Those numbers are heartbreaking, but they are not just numbers. They are people. Families. Friends. Service members. Stories that mattered.

Sometimes helping starts with something simple: checking in, listening without judgment, asking someone how they’re really doing, and making sure they know they are not alone.
