Machine polishing is only part of the equation.

On the front end of this black Lincoln Navigator, we’re mechanically refining the paint to remove defects and restore the deep, sharp reflections that black paint is capable of.

But before ceramic coating goes anywhere near the surface, there’s another critical step: solvent prep.

Polishing can leave behind oils and residues that make the paint look better than it actually is—and can interfere with how a ceramic coating bonds. A thorough solvent wipe removes those residues, exposes the true condition of the finish, and leaves a surgically clean surface for coating installation.

Most people focus on the PAINT… but look at the convertible top. 👀

This Audi A5 came to us for paint correction and heavy water-spot removal, but restoring the vehicle properly meant looking beyond just the shiny surfaces.

The convertible top had lost much of its rich, uniform appearance over time.

Instead of ignoring it, we cleaned, prepared and re-dyed the top to bring back a deeper, more consistent finish that better matches the freshly corrected paint.

That’s the difference between simply “detailing” a vehicle and looking at the entire presentation of the car.

🔴 POLISHING OVER WATER SPOTS? That’s how you make a bad problem harder.

This red Audi A5 came into Total Package Detailing for professional paint correction—but before we could start chasing swirls, scratches and restoring clarity, there was another problem to solve:

Water-spot contamination.

And simply grabbing a polisher and attacking it isn’t always the right first move.

Hard-water deposits can leave mineral contamination sitting on and bonding to the paint. If we can chemically break down and remove those deposits first, we can see what damage is actually left behind.

So before correction, this Audi received a dedicated water-spot removal treatment.

Why?

Because our goal isn’t to unnecessarily grind away clear coat.

It’s to use the least aggressive process necessary to get the result.

First, remove what can be removed chemically.

Then inspect what’s left.

Then machine-correct the etching, swirls and defects that actually require abrasion.

That’s the difference between simply making paint shiny and approaching paint correction as a calculated restoration process.

And on a beautiful red Audi like this, the difference becomes VERY obvious when the lights hit it. 🔥

We’re now moving into the correction process to restore the depth, clarity and reflection this paint should have had in the first place.
