It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Umberto (Bert) Avila, the founder of our family business, after a long battle with cancer and heart issues. Bert was a retired combat disabled Army Veteran who served in Korea and Bosnia. After retiring he attended law school at Cooley Law and then used his time to represent family, friends, and any veteran he came across to get their benefits.

Bert was known for his charismatic, friendly personality and absolute lack of a filter. His saying was, “My head is crooked, but my heart is straight.” He always acted with his heart, never changed who he was for anyone, and treated everyone like family. He loved to make people smile and was known as the life of the party.

A father of six, Bert gave his family everything. He chose to be a dad when he didn’t have to be. “I will get them there even if they have to step on my face to get there.” More often than not they did and he was always there. He was the rock of the family, who always answered their call to help when needed. He fought fiercely for who and what he loved.

Bert dreamed of a family business and started Elevated Restyling with his son in the home garage in 2020. He believed in it and his legacy will continue.

We would like to thank everyone for their personal thoughts and support of our family. We would like to thank the healthcare teams at the University of Michigan Hospital and the Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital for the years of caring treatment of Bert and our family. We thank all the customers that have supported the business and hope to see you as his sons continue to move forward with their father’s dream. We will share arrangements here when they are finalized. Thank you for your support!

Your car's color is not permanent anymore. A lot of people still don’t know that.

Most drivers assume that if they want a different look, they are facing a full repaint, thousands of dollars, and a commitment they cannot undo. If your car is still rocking shiny chrome trim, grille accents, or door handles, it might be aging the look in ways you have not fully noticed yet. A chrome delete is exactly what it sounds like. Every chrome element gets wrapped or vinyl overlaid in matte black, gloss black, or satin finish, and suddenly your car looks like a completely different vehicle. Cleaner. Blacked out. Intentional.

PPF or ceramic coating? Here is why you should be considering both.

PPF protects your paint from the hits you never see coming. Rocks, road debris, chips that turn into rust that turn into a repaint quote. The film takes all of it so your clear coat never has to.

But here is what most people do not know. Without ceramic coating on top, the PPF itself starts to break down. UV rays and environmental contaminants cause the film to yellow and degrade over time. Ceramic coating is what shields the film from that, extending its lifespan and keeping it crystal clear for years longer than it would last on its own.

So PPF protects your paint. Ceramic coating protects the PPF. Together they are the only complete answer, and without both, you are leaving part of the investment exposed.
