Since 2003, KC's Automotive Specialists was born out of James Smith's dream of owning his own business. Since its inception, we have been committed to creating a family-oriented atmosphere for both our customers and our team. James, who had been a technician since 1994, was deeply passionate about the automotive industry, restoring old cars, and worked tirelessly to make KC’s Automotive the success it is today. He graduated from Nashville Auto Diesel College in 1996 and became an ASE Master Technician, earning numerous other certifications throughout his career. James passed away in 2021, but his legacy continues through the business he built with his wife Kelly and daughter Kaitlyn. Today, the shop is managed by his family, alongside a dedicated team of skilled technicians. Kelly Smith, born and raised in West Virginia, is the owner of KC’s Automotive Specialists. Kelly is goal-oriented and has several professional and personal goals to achieve this year. Professionally, she will be focusing on improving efficiency and productivity within the company. She is also excited to learn more about new technology within the industry by staying on top of training for herself and her team. During 2024, Kelly found out that she had an aggressive form of breast cancer. After going through her treatment plan, she has been cleared of cancer by her doctors; here at KC’s Automotive, we call that a “W”! This year, Kelly has been awarded the 2025 SC Women in Business Award! In her spare time, Kelly can be found spending time with her beautiful daughter Kaitlyn, or reading, swimming, and paddleboarding. Kelly also has a passion for travel. She enjoys visiting family out of state, and you can also find her traveling to the beach or mountains.
