This was a point of great discussion. How to hook up the carburetor with the factory pull k***s while missing linkage and keeping an overall stock(ish) appearance. With some assistance from the Hupmobile Club and the Hupmobile Facebook community to whom we wish to say a very big "THANK YOU" to, this is what we were able to create. Still have the foot pedal linkage to address but the choke and the hand throttle of the dual throttle system have been tested and working perfectly. The motor really does sing like a sewing machine.

The Cougar went through a bit of a metamorphosis here this week. With all of the bodywork done, everything got a cleaning and prepped for paint. A base sealer black was the foundation for the red. Then all sealed up with clear coat. The reflection says it all. Strait as an arrow.

A lot of time was spent before paint was ever applied fitting all of the panels in the body shop. Even after final prime and sanding the body had one last fit up. These steps are making final assembly a dream. We had a few days in here that slowed assembly but that was purely due to getting all the linkage squared away between the dash and the engine. With everything working we're back on track and in the home stretch. Nothing but steady hands and a gentleman's touch with this ol' girl.

These Mopars always had a massive hanging gap around the bumpers. Well, Al aims to change that here. A little stretching here, a little shrinking there, and some ...colorful... language for commentary (lol) and he's turning corner.

With the new wiper pocket cleaned up and the wiper motor bracket position confirmed, welding commenced. Afterwards, the wiper linkage was modified and we now have a clean sweep.

Remember when I said the other. Side was worse. Well it's worse. Got some fabricating to do. This should be fun. Will spend the weekend figuring how to make that mounting bracket. Think it will take a torch and some big time heat. Giter done!

Working on closing the gaps in the rear end. Eventually the bumper will be stripped, holes filled, and sent off to powder coating. Made some much needed space in the firewall for the wiper motor. Wiper linkage will have to be cut down but we have faith in our techs to get it right.
