You complain about AI posters, but here's the thing: YOU DON'T PAY OUR BILLS!
I've seen the complaints about AI-generated flyers and posters. Everybody has an opinion about how businesses should advertise, but very few people understand what it actually costs to put on events for a community.
Let's talk about Garcia's Auto Detailing for a minute.
We don't just detail cars. We put on events throughout the year, including:
Car Shows & Bike Shows
Wild Southern Wrestling
Jurassic Alvin Week
Haunted Corridor of Doors
Nightmare on Sealy Street
Heroes & Villains Weekend
Dueling Guitars
Trunk-or-Treat Events
Vendor Markets & Children's Business Expos
Glow Bike Rides
Dog Shows & Cat Shows
Open Mic Nights
Santa's Workshop on Sealy Street
Santa vs. Grinch Boxing
Community Fundraisers & Charity Events
And that's not even everything we do!
Now imagine paying a professional graphic designer to create every single flyer, poster, advertisement, schedule change, vendor announcement, and social media graphic for ALL of those events.
We would go broke before we ever opened the gates!
We already shoulder the expenses of putting these events together. Entertainment, equipment, insurance, decorations, advertising, supplies, and countless other things that people never see.
So yes, WE USE AI!
We use it as a tool to help us create our own graphics and advertising. We spend our own time coming up with ideas, making changes, correcting mistakes, and trying to create something different.
And believe me, we try our hardest not to put out the same cookie-cutter AI slop you see everywhere else. Sometimes we nail it. Sometimes we don't. Sometimes AI can't even spell a simple word correctly after 15 attempts!
But we're trying.
Would I love to hire a graphic designer for every event? Absolutely! But that money has to come from somewhere, and I'd rather put it toward creating another great experience for the community.
We're a small business with big ideas, not a corporation with an unlimited advertising budget.
A lot of what we do is free or kept as affordable as possible because we believe families deserve things to do without spending a fortune.
And here's something else worth remembering: We aren't charging you to look at our flyers!
You don't have to like AI. You don't have to like our designs. But don't confuse the use of a tool with a lack of effort.
Behind every one of those posters is somebody putting in real hours, real money, and real work to make something happen in Historic Downtown Alvin.
So while some people are busy complaining about how the poster was made, we're busy figuring out how to make the next event bigger and better.
You can criticize the poster. We'll keep putting on the show.
And when you come out, have a good time, make memories with your family, and enjoy something we worked hard to put together, that's what matters to us.
