A health check on this Cobra revealed some unexpectedly crazy AFR numbers, but we got everything corrected and dialed in. It’s ready to rip another day! 🐍💪

I swear there’s a surprise in store with every one of these trucks. Without a form of measurement, how do you know your truck is performing properly? If you go the remote tune direction, definitely advisable to follow up on a dyno and if it’s heavily modified, it’s a necessity in my book.

After some road testing, start up/idle adjustments, and some tuning time, Mr Solis’ 97 F150 is complete and finally headed home. This 2V 5.4 put down some respectable numbers with 770 WHP and 798 TQ and 23.5 lbs boost.

It’s been a long and bumpy road, but hearing this project fire up, run, and drive is a huge relief.

Some may recognize this build. We originally built the long block and began assembly, but ran into cowl and blower fitment issues along with the need for a custom exhaust system. The truck left for a few weeks as the customer chose to have those items handled elsewhere.

Once it returned, what appeared to be a handful of small items to finish quickly turned into a much longer list of issues. Several systems we assumed were fully operational upon arrival but ended up requiring attention. Between electrical gremlins related to the Lightning harness swap, power steering, brakes, and a ton of other miscellaneous problems, there was plenty of troubleshooting involved.

Everything seems to be functioning correctly so far, so onto the fun part, putting some break-in miles on this combination and getting it dialed in on our Dynojet. Stick around for those results..

Had the damper not walk off the crank snout on its last bottom 10 sec outing, there would’ve been a 9.9x sec slip no doubt. We tuned Mike’s 2.3L whippled Lightning a couple years back and unfortunately his last track visit ended with a damaged crank snout. We were not the builder, but from the looks of it the balancer was not seated/torqued properly. He brought us the motor to inspect and repair with the help of Owens Racing Engines. A new crank, oil pump, some fresh bearings, coated piston skirts, and an ATI balancer with a FFRE crank stud to hold it together. We degreed in the old cams, changed a few items and as requested, a heater delete cooling mod. We also provided Mike a new Circle D 265mm converter to help obtain that elusive 9 sec slip soon!

Another tuned Harley out the door. This one came in with a fresh built motor, ported PI heads and a KB 2.8L on 93 octane headed to Dallas area. 609 whp/630 tq.
