Time to take your recovery skills up a notch? We are offering our "Advanced Recovery Clinic" on July 25th. This full day clinic will have students getting hands on building off of the skills learned in our "Recovery Basics Class". Led by I4WDTA Certified Instructor Ned Crystal, we will be working with real trail stuck situations on the new STL OFFROAD off-road closed course located at STL HQ/Three Goldens Farm.

Students will learn:
* safe proper usage of the Hi-Lift jack in common trail situations (high centering, deep ruts and manual winching)
* advanced winching techniques (redirects, double/triple line pulls, why and how to use mechanical advantage, multiple types of anchor points)
* Use of the Pull Pall for when you don't have an anchor point
* How to shorten line and utilize the Safe-Xtract X-Lock and winch extensions

We are always staying abreast of new technology and keeping our knowledge of different platforms up to date. This weekend we get to be hands on and play on-trail with the new Mercedes G500 wagon. The 4 motor electric version offers amazing capability off-road and its petrol version sibling is extremely capable honoring a long legacy of proven 4x4 prowess. Let's go!!!!

Simple and efficient, traction boards can be one of the best methods to get unstuck. Know how to properly use them. Robert Pepper (a great mind and expert in the off-road industry from Australia) gives us a great article on using traction boards. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18vA4Kw9e2/

You can use traction ramps to unbog a vehicle on a turn, but if you do, then you must angle each ramp according to each wheel's path. And, four ramps are very effective...two, less so. The other tip is that you must really dig under each wheel and jam the ramp in, not make a half-hearted attempt and hope.

Tried a few troubleshooting ideas on the oil leak in the Sami and I think both front and rear seal are gone. Time to learn some new stuff. At least I got to hit the trail by the house today for a quick bit.
