It's not just flat out scary that whoever did this is out there replacing windshields, it's downright dangerous. The windshield contributes up to 60% of additional roof support during roof crush and rollover, and must be the backboard for the airbags when they deploy. An airbag can strike the glass up to 200+mph when it deploys alone, and the glass must take a second more powerful hit in the next split second when the passenger hits the airbag and it goes forward and hits the glass again. Fortunately, we got to this one before the structure or the bond was compromised to mitigate the corrosion damage. Choose wisely. Thanks to our customer's for choosing ACR Glass.

With that fall chill in the air, it's time for another reminder to have those chips in your windshield repaired before they can spread. Temperature changes are NOT good if you've got a chip in your windshield. Remember, Nebraska State Law states YOU have the RIGHT TO CHOOSE who repairs your car, not your insurance company. ACR Glass helped WRITE and PASS that law protecting your choice in 1992! Thank you for choosing ACR Glass!

Have you noticed that chill in the air yet? That's FALL. It's here! If you've got a cracked or broken glass in your wood stove, it's NOT regular glass, it's a high temperature resistant glass, usually rated up to about 2700 degrees as a maximum. No regular glass, not even Pyrex which had a max of 400 degrees, and which is now basically obsolete, comes close to those temperatures that a wood stove produces. We carry replacement flat heat resistant glass for these applications. ALSO, a few tips to AVOID breakage: Follow your stove mfg's instructions. If you use "logs" or "firewood" you need to be sure that your wood is dry, and CLEAN of debris. When you hear a fire "popping", that's basically a steam explosion. That can throw dirt, sand, pebbles ect AT THE GLASS. Also, don't allow flames to "lick" the glass, that creates "hot spots" in the glass that make the heat expansion of the glass "unequal", and can cause a thermal stress, and breakage. It also leaves "tarry" stains that are difficult to clean off, so just avoid this. Thanks to all of our customers for thinking of ACR Glass!

A polite PSA type of NOTICE to our customers! It has come to our attention that certain insurers or their claims processors are informing our clients that we are charging them too much for some items including Windshield Repairs (Pit or Chip Repairs). Clients have "circled back to us" after being led elsewhere, to inform us that that they were charged as much as 2.5x+ what we had quoted them. Needless to say they weren't happy about being misled. Please let us know if you have any questions about anything that we can help you with re: information and/or services we can provide for you!! Thank you again to all of our clients for your business!! And remember, Nebraska Law states you have the right to choose who repairs your car. (44-1540) ACR Glass didn't just help pass that law protecting your rights in 1992, we helped write it. Be safe, drive carefully!

Unfortunately, it's become time for yet another public reminder to our customers that Nebraska Law gives you your right to CHOOSE who repairs your property. It is illegal under NE Statute 44-1540 for an insurance company to require you to use a specific company or location for repair to your property. ACR Glass knows this, because we didn't just help to pass that law in 1992, we helped WRITE it, and there are now 35+ other states with similar "anti-steering" consumer protection statutes. If an insurer, or someone you are talking to on the phone that you "think" is your insurer, is leading you to believe otherwise, challenge them with questions. We'd be happy to be as helpful as we can to inform and equip you with information as best we can BEFORE you call a 1-800 #, just as we've been doing on this subject for our customer's since 1992. Feel free to call us for any help you may need! There's much more information on this subject available. Thanks for choosing ACR Glass.

Another reminder to consumers WHY we are so particular about proper procedures. This windshield came out of a client's vehicle recently. There was literally near ZERO attachment over 75% of the way around of his front windshield when we removed it. It SHOULD have a 600-800psi shear strength bond, so the glass will provide up to 60% to additional roof support during a roll-over or when powerful airbags deploy in a frontal collision. These pics show the two bottom corners, one of which has NO bond, the other, the adhesive is so smeared it had no chance to bond at all. The rest of the circumference, we were nearly able to just push the glass out with our hands. Skipping proper procedures on glass preparation saved the previous installer about 15 minutes on the installation, but put lives at serious risk. The safety systems WOULD have failed miserably in a crash. Choose wisely who replaces your auto glass. Thank you to our clients to choosing us for over 4 decades.
