We’re not sure who needed to hear this, but if this applies to you… it may be time to change the way you look at that check engine light.

A diagnostic code is your vehicle’s way of telling you that something needs attention. Clearing the code does not fix the underlying problem.

Ignoring it can allow a minor issue to develop into a much more costly repair, while potentially affecting performance, fuel economy, emissions, and reliability.

Instead of asking, “Can you clear the code?” ask, “What caused it, and how do we fix it?”

🔧 Bring your vehicle to East Side Auto Haven. We’ll properly diagnose the code for FREE, explain what we find, and help you determine the right repair!

Don’t just clear the warning. Understand it. Diagnose it. Fix it.

COMMON CAR MISCONCEPTION WE HEAR ALL THE TIME:

“Your car HAS to sit and warm up for 10–15 minutes when it’s cold outside.” 👀

Not necessarily!

That was much more important with older vehicles. Modern vehicles are designed differently, and in most cases, you don’t need to sit in the driveway letting your car idle forever.

Start it, give it a short moment for the oil to circulate, and then drive gently until the engine reaches operating temperature. No need to immediately hit the gas hard or push the engine while it’s still cold.

And if your vehicle is taking FOREVER to warm up, the temperature gauge isn’t reaching normal, or you’re getting little/no heat inside the cabin… that could be a sign something needs attention.
