Roof reseal!!
Roofs are often one of the most under-maintenanced parts of an RV, but probably the most important to take care of. A small crack in the sealant or a tear in the membrane can cause major damage. I recommend, at least twice a year, to inspect the membrane and all of the lap sealant. If you want to really make sure your roof is protected, inspect it after everytime you pull it down the road. Camping often takes us down roads with lots of low hanging branches that can tear your roof membrane. All it takes is one small branch to drag across the roof to tear it. If your RV has a mounted ladder, you can inspect it in about 5 minutes.
We start every reseal with a very good wash of the roof. Not only does this give you a clean surface to reseal, but you will often find places that need attention that you wouldn't see with the roof dirty. Then, we move on to removing the old lap sealant. Once that is done, new lap sealant applied. Final step is a thorough inspection of everything to ensure everything is sealed properly.
