Stay safe!

⚠️: STORM SHELTER IS NOW OPEN (while we aren’t yet under a watch, the fire dept. has opened the shelter early for those who are ready to get to their safe place for the day)

The storm shelter for Albertville City residents is the large basement of the Board of Education building, located at 107 W. Main Street, across the street from City Hall, in downtown Albertville. It will open once we are under a tornado watch. If at all possible, Albertville Fire & Rescue will man the shelter once a tornado warning is in effect.

If you live in a mobile home, please do not try to stay in it today. Have your evacuation plan in place now. Travel to the shelter or your safe spot BEFORE tornado warning is issued. The best practice is to head to the shelter under a watch, so you aren’t in your vehicle during an active tornado. It could be a very long day— so pack the waters and snacks now, get the pets secured, and you and your family prepared to head to safety.

It currently appears the next line of severe weather will arrive in West Alabama around 11 AM and track into our area (Northeast Alabama) after lunch into the late afternoon hours, and through the very early morning hours.

Have your NOAA weather radios and your emergency notifications turned ON on your mobile device. You can still sign up for Marshall Alerts as we speak. This is a free emergency notification system through Marshall County Emergency Management Agency. You will be alerted on your choice of a landline/home phone and/or smartphone.
