Our Story
DRAGWAY EQUIPMENT·THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2018·
From a very early age business owner, Shane Bowman, had an interest in all things mechanical. Coming from an agricultural background, he had to be able to fix all types of farm equipment (i.e. tractors, planters, combines and tillage equipment). However his primary interest was motor sports. Most of his teen years were spent building high-per

formance engines for pulling tractors. The older and more experienced he became with building engines, his skill level led him to drag racing engines. During his third year of employment with John Deere, Shane decided to pursue a business in high-performance parts and engine building. An opportunity for such an endeavor presented itself when thirty year old business, Dragway Equipment, founded by John Hellis, became available for purchase. With limited funds, Shane liquidated many of his prized possessions to purchase the business from his mentor. With a passion for motor sports and an extraordinary mechanical ability led to the evolution of the business known today as Dragway Equipment Diesel Performance and Repair Company. While building his business, Shane simultaneously continued a career span with John Deere for over twenty years. During this time he gained a wealth of experience as well as earning his Master Service Technician certification. In 2013, Shane came to a pivotal point in his career. With a strong desire to see his business flourish, he decided to focus solely on his business endeavors leaving John Deere behind. Part of that focus included relocating. Since operating from the current location at the intersection of 67/167 in Albany, Shane has been able to build and serve a larger customer base. Although very functional as a one-man operation, he recently gained an assistant. After working in public education for twenty years, wife Lorie, joined the business full-time in 2017. Whereas together they support each other in the daily business operations, Shane remains the heart and soul of Dragway Equipment Diesel Performance and Repair. With customer satisfaction in the forefront, Shane continues to a build reputation for providing top-quality diesel service.

Harvest season has begun across Indiana! As you travel through the state's rural areas this fall, be sure to keep these driving tips in mind:

🌽 Slow down early: Farm equipment often travels less than 25 mph
🚜 Pass with caution: Only pass when the road is clear – never on hills, curves or near an intersection
🌽 Watch for turns: Equipment may swing wide or veer right before turning left
🚜 Avoid distractions: Keep your eyes on the road
