I started this truck 2 years ago as a simple color change. I shifted direction of the build since. The more I took it apart, the deeper down the rabbit hole I went.
My favorite parts of this build will be the engine compartment. First on the list is to cut down the core support… 🛠️

This accident happened a few years ago. The customer reached out once but figured he’d price shop, try and order a new door. There were 6 months out. I’ll try and find a used door. These were all the things I heard for three weeks before I finally said, “Bring me the door and I’ll look at it.”
He insisted it wasn’t savable.

He brings me the door. I look it over and told him I’d give it a try.
He grinned knowing he was right.

…He was wrong. 😉

I’m only sharing it as a lesson to why Body and Paint is so expensive.

It takes hours, weeks, months to dial in a car/truck. I had the same year Corvette as Figure A in my shop a year ago. The customer insisted on perfect gaps, sharpe lines, and flat panels on a car that isn’t flat.

Not posted in these photos are everything you have to test fit along the way. From Chrome bumpers, to window channels.
It’s never made sense to me to spend money on a complete paint job and have panels or parts so close together that will eventually chip.

We took this ‘55 Nomad in awhile back. One of the things on my list was giving the engine proper air. So I built a simple air box, trim ring, and intake tube all out of Aluminum.

Few more things and It’ll be ready for paint.
