Super cool build by Justin Wehring!
2019 F450 pickup (not chassis cab)
“The short version is that I spent 2 years and over $100k to build a very simple and old school truck. The final product is a big truck that runs smooth at 80 mph with no bad manners.
The engine in the F450 pickup has the hotter engine program (450hp/935tq) then the F450 chassis cab trucks (330hp/750tq). Powerstroke diesel and automatic transmission.
2019 was the first year Ford offered a 2 door pickup bed version of the F450.
The only gear ratio available for the axles is 4.30 but it matched nicely to the 38” tires. 65 mph @ 1772 rpm, 70 mph @ 1910 rpm, 80 mph @ 2180 rpm
This was specifically ordered without all of the annoying driver assist features like lane assist, adaptive cruise, TPMS and backup sensors. It is an old school purist driver’s truck made on a 2019. All of the chimes have been turned off. No alarms for lights left on, key left in the ignition, doors left open or any other assist. Just a very simple truck that is fun to drive. It even has a stick shifter in the floor for 4x4. Simple and pure.
It has been converted to super single tires and wheels. The wheels were made by Hutchinson and are serial numbers 0001-0005. They were $10,000 for the set of 5 but significantly improved the ride quality over the factory dual tires.
The rear suspension is a Kelderman full air ride. Kelderman makes a nice suspension kit but their coating process is terrible and rusts in 2 years. I ordered the kit in the raw then spent 2 weeks rounding sharp edges, grinding surfaces, blasting everything, acid washing everything then priming and painting. This coating will look great for many years.
The front suspension is a fabtech 6” kit. This kit has been proven durable on fire department brush truck for many years. It also has a Carli sway bar to allow more clearance for the tires when steering. The tires do not rub from lock to lock. The F450 front axle turns MUCH sharper than an F250 or F350. This truck will U-turn on a 2 lane road.
The front fenders are McNeil Racing fiberglass +6” fenders. They give the F450 a Raptor look and cover the super single tire conversion nicely.
Other upgrades include...
8” gauge cluster
Bradford built flatbed
Speedo correction
Chandler tool box
Banks Derringer
Retro paint job
Ceramic tint
CR Laurence rear sliding glass
RAM computer mount
$85k

This truck was genuinely built with passion and it drives that way. It was not simply thrown together with a box of aftermarket parts.
You are welcome to come drive it.”
