Parents, one of the best ways to help a new driver build confidence is to get them thinking ahead, not just reacting in the moment.
Instead of only saying, “Be careful,” try questions like:
“What are you watching for right now?”
“What could happen at this intersection?”
“Where might another car enter?”
“What would you do if that light changed?”
These kinds of questions help new drivers practice scanning, anticipating hazards, and making safer decisions behind the wheel.
