This is not a phone call any Powerstroke or Duramax owner wants to get.
This 2017 F-450 came in after being run out of fuel and would not restart. Unfortunately, the CP4 pump did not survive. When that happens, metal contamination can spread through the fuel system, which means the entire system has to be replaced to do the repair correctly.
One way to help prevent getting this phone call is by upgrading your truck with an S&S Disaster Prevention Kit or going with a DCR conversion for your powerstroke before failure happens. On a Duramax you need to do a CP3 conversion. Preventative upgrades can save thousands compared to a complete fuel system replacement.
