Know your roads first

Moore County buyers cross town lines all the time. Aberdeen to Southern Pines, Southern Pines to Pinehurst. And the rules on what can legally drive those roads change with every line you cross.

Here's the plain version: a standard golf cart can't be registered with the state. It's only permitted on roads where your town or county has an ordinance allowing it, typically posted 35 mph or under. A low-speed vehicle is different. It carries a manufacturer's 17-digit VIN, which means it can be DMV-registered, though rules on that still vary by state and seat count.

Two different vehicles, two different sets of rules. Guess wrong and you find out after you've already spent the money.

Whether a given build is a cart or an LSV depends on the configuration. Check your own town and HOA rules before you decide what you need. We can help you figure out what applies where you live.
