🦏 Animal spotlight: the white rhino

Here’s a surprising fact: for nearly 25 years, there wasn’t a single wild rhino left in Uganda.

Today, that has changed thanks to !

What started with just a few rhinos has grown into a thriving population, bringing these giants back to Uganda’s landscapes one generation at a time.

And unlike many wildlife encounters, seeing rhinos at Ziwa happens on foot. No safari vehicle, just you, a ranger and a healthy dose of respect for an animal that can weigh over 2,000 kilos.

Not a bad way to stretch your legs during a road trip through Uganda 🚙

Real story from the road: and Pieter in Uganda 🦍

“Seeing mountain gorillas in the wild had always been Pieter’s dream.

So off we went into the rainforest of Bwindi. And after only 30 minutes of trekking, there he was: a magnificent silverback, just a few metres away.

As if that wasn’t special enough, we then spent time watching a mother gorilla and her playful young ones. A truly memorable day and a memorable experience.”

🌴 When people think of Madagascar, they often picture lemurs, baobab trees and rugged national parks.

And while those are surely available, Madagascar álso offers quiet fishing villages and tropical beaches. It’s here where life moves just a little bit slower.

It’s also one of the reasons we love roadtripping here so much. You can spend the morning spotting wildlife and end the day with your feet in the sand. Or kitesurfing your way through the waves 🌊
