Amaani Ga Rwenzori (AGR) was incorporated in October 2019 as a company limited by guarantee in Uganda. It is a non-profit organization, born out of a skills development project (Amaani Rwenzori), which was jointly developed and implemented by; Youth Encouragement Services (YES), a local NGO, and Welthungerhilfe (WHH) a German organization; under a Memorandum of Understanding from 2016 until April
2020. Our philosophy
“Helping youth help themselves”, Amaani Ga Rwenzori is dedicated to empowering youth socially, economically, spiritually and physically; to prepare them to confront and move ahead of the most pressing problems in their communities. What we do
We mobilize financial resources and implement high impact projects to sustainably enhance household income. We have successfully trained the youth in vocational skills (Tailoring, Carpentry, Pottery, Motorcycle and Motor vehicle mechanics, Cookery, Hair dressing, Masonry, Domestic electrical installation, Plumbing, Phone Repair, Knitting and Farming ). We are excited about our new venture to train youth to become farmers, especially, on the use of organic agriculture techniques to enhance productivity under conditions of limited space and unpredictable seasons. We offer inclusive learning opportunities, both in formal and non-formal education. We are particularly interested in designing learning solutions for the orphaned and vulnerable youth. Amaani Ga Rwenzori is market driven and reaches beyond the traditional vocational trades. We see a future in training rural youth in the construction and repair of Green energy technologies and ICT programs. We provide a platform for youth to participate in development of solutions for the unique challenges in their communities. We mainstream core health topics such as nutrition, sexual and reproductive health into all our programs. We envision to offer online learning platforms to enable rural youth access to education from global providers.
