Road Traffic Accidents leave wounds both visible and invisible.

We often witness the physical healing through cleaning, dressing,physical therapy, and other treatments that help the body recover.But what we don’t see are the psychological wounds.

These can linger long after the body has healed. Survivors may relive the experience, especially when something familiar triggers the memory.

So the question is: Is there help for this kind of healing? Who provides it? And should we start considering psychological recovery as an essential part of post‑accident care?

In this video, I want to highlight the importance of scanning, anticipating, and safely acting or reacting to what we see while driving.

Sometimes, we make mistakes on the road that may appear minor or can even go unnoticed. However, there are mistakes that simply cannot be overlooked because the consequences can be serious, life changing, and sometimes fatal.

As drivers, staying within the safe and legal limits requires more than simply knowing the rules. We must continuously educate ourselves, develop our driving skills, and practise what we learn until safe driving becomes a natural part of our behaviour behind the wheel.

We must also remember that every decision we make while driving can have an impact beyond ourselves. When we take unnecessary risks or drive without the required care, attention and consideration, our actions can affect the lives, safety, and livelihoods of others.

Scanning takes away the element of surprise, gather all the information you can.

Adverse driving conditions can occur at any time, whether caused by weather, road conditions, obstructions, or other human made hazards.

As road users, we must always be prepared to anticipate, identify, and respond safely. Constant scanning, maintaining awareness of our surroundings, adjusting our speed, and consciously applying safe driving principles can make a significant difference when conditions change unexpectedly.

Communication also plays an important role in road safety. When we encounter a hazard or condition that may not yet be known to the relevant authorities, reporting it promptly can help get the matter addressed before it becomes a serious threat to others.
See it. Assess it. Communicate it. Act safely.

Road safety is a shared responsibility, and every one of us has a role to play in making the journey safer for everyone. 🚗🛣️

Within the road community, animals are among the most vulnerable road users, second only to pedestrians in terms of their vulnerability and fragility when they come into contact with vehicles or other road users.

As drivers and operators, we should always scan ahead and scan wider for animals, whether they are pets, wildlife, or livestock.

Animals cannot communicate or respond to traffic the way we can, and their movements can often be unpredictable. That means we have to take the extra step to anticipate their presence, reduce our speed when necessary, and be prepared to react safely.

Let’s show that extra level of care, patience and consideration for every living being that shares our roads.

Road safety, let's play our part in ensuring the road and surrounding areas are safe for driving or riding.

Along our highways, there are different hazards that can pose serious threats to the driving and riding community.

When we encounter these hazards, they may not always be known to the relevant authorities, or they may not yet have been identified as a priority for attention. This is why reporting and bringing awareness to potential hazards can play an important role in road safety.

Hard shoulders are areas that should remain clear of obstructions, particularly because they provide motorists with a safe space to use during emergencies without unnecessarily disrupting other road users, especially on highways.

In this video, the area shown is a lane separation between the left lane and a deceleration lane. In the absence of a hard shoulder, this space could potentially provide a valuable safety area for a driver or rider who needs to slow down, stop, or regain control due to a vehicle failure, malfunction, or other emergency.

This post is not intended to cast blame on anyone. Instead, I hope it can be viewed as a helping hand and an opportunity to identify and address a potential hazard before it contributes to an incident or accident.

I always mention that Road safety is a shared responsibility, and everyone must play their part. So Sometimes, seeing a hazard and bringing it to the right attention can make a difference.
