From March 26, fuel prices across Thailand, including Phuket, increased by about 6 baht per liter 📈 The rise happened at once and took effect in the morning.

The reason ➡️ partial removal of subsidies and a sharp increase in global oil prices. The decision was made to reduce pressure on the fuel fund, which had already been running at a deficit.

What’s important today:
□ there is no fuel shortage, supplies in the country are sufficient
□ refineries are operating as usual
□ queues at gas stations are due to demand and logistics, not a lack of fuel

What’s next:
■ gradual increases in transport and service prices are possible

Authorities in Thailand have reminded gas station operators about strict liability for unjustified fuel price increases. Government agencies have now intensified inspections across the country, including Phuket, to prevent speculation amid discussions about a possible rise in fuel prices.

Oversight is carried out by the Department of Internal Trade under the Ministry of Commerce. Inspectors check gas stations, monitor proper price displays, and respond to drivers’ complaints.

According to the law, fuel prices must be clearly displayed at every gas station. Any attempts to inflate prices, refuse fuel sales, or create an artificial shortage are considered violations.

Penalties for such actions are serious:
⚠️ missing price tags may result in a fine of up to 10,000 baht
⚠️ speculation or abuse may lead to up to 7 years in prison and a fine of up to 140,000 baht

If drivers notice suspicious price increases or other violations, they can report them via the hotline and the complaint will be sent for inspection:

🚧 Good news for drivers in Phuket

The reconstruction of the Patong–Kamala coastal road has been officially completed. Thailand’s Department of Highways has confirmed the completion of works on Highway 4030 — one of the island’s key tourist routes.

What was done:
✅ Expanded the northern entrance to Patong to four lanes
✅ Reinforced slopes and upgraded the drainage system
✅ Built a new bridge
✅ Eliminated a dangerous winding section

The works covered the Kamala area, including the stretch from Naka Thani Village to Wyndham Grand, in the Kathu district.

The project started in early 2025, with deadlines extended several times, and ultimately lasted through most of the high season. The road is now fully open and expected to be safer and more comfortable for traffic.

For those who regularly travel between Kamala and Patong 🤝 this is a truly important upgrade.

Driving without a license in Phuket: what tourists need to know ⚠️

On Phuket, not having a valid driver’s license is one of the most common reasons foreigners get fined.
Thailand does not recognize foreign licenses without an IDP (International Driving Permit), and for riding a motorbike, a valid category A is mandatory.

Most rental scooters (125–160 cc) are classified as full motorcycles. Without the correct category, you are officially considered an unlicensed driver, even if you know how to ride.

⚠️ Important: in case of an accident, insurance may not cover you.
According to statistics, 85% of serious accidents in Phuket involve motorbikes.

EDC has kicked off 🎧🎶 and it’s already affecting the roads.

Right now, the main traffic flow is heading toward Cherng Talay: cars and motorbikes are moving in very dense streams, and serious congestion has formed on the approaches to the venue. Traffic is heavily slowed both on entry and exit routes.

⚠️ Important for drivers:
Access to Rhythm Park is organized via the main roads of the Cherng Talay area. From there, signage is in place and staff are directing vehicles toward drop-off points and parking zones.
Trying to “sneak closer” to the venue won’t work — some roads are closed, and traffic is released in controlled waves. It’s best to follow the official routes and designated parking areas from the start.

Current conditions:
— round-trip transfers start from 1,500 THB per person
— car parking averages 400–500 THB

Plan your route in advance and allow extra travel time. Phuket is operating in full-scale festival mode today.
