THE FIRST BLADE⚡
When Honda introduced the first FireBlade in 1992 it was immediately a game changer. Developed by Tadao Baba and his team, its revolutionary concept was to beat Honda’s own RVF750 on track by creating the lightest and most compact bike in its class.
Developed initially as a 750, the displacement of the in-line four was increased to 893cc while retaining the 600-class proportions of a 1405mm wheelbase and a dry weight of just 185kg.
Continuous innovation drove the FireBlade's evolution, with updates in '94/'95 enhancing suspension and aesthetics, and '96/'97 seeing increased displacement and improved ergonomics. The '98/'99 model boasted 128 bhp, but competition spurred Honda to revamp for the millennium. The 2000 model introduced a fuel-injected 929cc engine, delivering 150 hp and marked by a 17-inch front wheel and upside-down fork.
Tadao Baba's final iteration, the 2002-2003 954cc model, featured enhanced suspension, frame, and fuel injection. With Baba's retirement, the FireBlade transitioned to a lowercase 'b' in tribute to his legacy.
