Next one in line in our multiple Ford Es**rt barn find is this unfortunate MK1. 😄
It has been quite severly crashed and rolled over, which has deformed the chassis "a little".🤷‍♂️

Anyways, we'll pull it onto the Iveco Grinta recovery truck, take it home and see what we can do. 🙂

Maybe go for a test drive too? 😉

Oops, got a little carried away with "Research and Development" here!🤭

What started as a gearbox adapter kit for big ole V6 Cologne engine that I designed to use a BMW ZF gearbox in my racing Sierra, has now directly carried over to an ultra versatile adapter for the more common Ford engines!🔵🔥

The adapter in the making will make fitting BMW ZF/Getrag gearboxes (5 or 6-speed) to 4 cylinder Ford engines a breeze.🍃😊

This one will fit : Pinto, Zetec, DOHC, YB Cosworth, hell, even the old Crossflow (Kent) engines! 😎

The kit uses the Ford flywheel (has to be drilled and tapped) and BMW clutch (friction plate and pressure plate) so it's a great clutch upgrade too!👌

There will be cable and hydraulic clutch option available, as well as multiple starter motor options (DOHC & YB) all on one adapter plate!

New ADAPTER PLATE for the mighty Cologne!😎

You might remember I've designed these to fit older BMW diesel gearboxes to the beloved Cologne V6 engine.

I'm happy to say the kit works great and we've counted quite some succesful installs already.👌

But now it's time to widen the gearbox selection even further! 🌎

Some people have had concerns about the gearing on ol' diesel 'boxes, so now I've made an adapter kit for gasoline ZF and Getrag transmissions too!✅

The one installed in the picture comes off a BMW 116i (GS6-17BG), which is the lightest 6-speed version you'll find, but this adapter will make fitting every transmission (5 or 6 speed) with this sort of bellhousing pattern (see pictures) a very simple job. 😉

You'll find such gearboxes on all the gasoline powered BMW E46,E39,E81,E87,E90,E91 etc.

The kit uses the original ford flywheel (has to be drilled and tapped), BMW clutch and pressure plate (self ajdusting👌), so it's essentially a great clutch upgrade too (same clutch kit is originally used on BMW 3.0d engines (up to 560Nm stock!)).

Alright, we're dealing with the escorts again! 😅

In this episode we'll take a closer look at the first mk1 Es**rt I've brought home. 🎉

This one is in a bit of a sorry state, but that doesn't mean it's useless! ☝️

There are some good parts to be salvaged and we can take this opportunity to (quite literally) dig deep and examine just how these cars are built! 🤔🧐

Last weekend we enjoyed good company and excellent organization at the Zasavje's traditional Katarina hillclimb race.😊

Despite some logistical complications, we managed to complete all the runs, including the training! (We went straight from the tow truck to the track!😁)

Special thanks to friends for their help!

The Sierra worked very well, in fact flawlessly! (Good thing, because the race was so fast and smooth that there was no time to wrench!😄)

Many thanks to Milan Tarlać and others for the beautiful pictures and videos!

And as if all that wasn't enough, we were also successful in the competition. We completed two time trials to within 18 hundredths of a second!

Hillclimb Katarina 2026!🤩

Prejšnji vikend smo uživali v dobri družbi in izvrstni organizaciji na Zasavski tradicionialni dirki Katarina Hillclimb 2026.😊

Kljub nekaj logističnim zapletom nam je uspelo odpeljati vse vožnje vključno s treningom! (Z avtovleke smo šli direktno na progo!😁)

Posebna zahvala za pomoč gre Aleš Fabjan in Matija Srnel!
Sierra je delovala zelo dobro, pravzaprav brezhibno! (Še dobro, saj zaradi hitrega in gladkega poteka dirke ni bilo časa šraufat!😄)

Lepa hvala Milan Tarlać in drugim za lepe slike in videe!

In kot da vse skupaj ne bi bilo dovolj, smo bili uspešni tudi na tekmovanju. Dve točnostni vožnji smo odpeljali na 18 stotink sekund natančno!

Remember I've recently bought 10 abandoned Ford Es**rts, right?😅

This time we'll finally start getting the poor escorts to their new home. 🏠

First we'll tackle these two beautiful mk2 2-doors. Just how bad are they and how difficult will it be to move them? 🙆‍♂️
