We bought the Audi S5.

Now we’re finding out what we actually bought. 👀

EP.001 of COATCONUT RESTORES is now live.

Watch the full episode on YouTube.

28/08/2026

We’ve spent years restoring other people’s cars.

This time, we bought one of our own.

An Audi S5 B8 4.2. Used, imperfect, and carrying considerably more history than its photographs cared to disclose.

What began as a purchase is about to become an autopsy, a restoration, and perhaps a lesson in questionable financial judgement.

We’re taking it apart. Finding out what it really needs. And putting it back together properly.

No shortcuts. No cosmetic theatre.

Just one S5, brought back piece by piece.

The curtain rises on something considerably more dramatic.

This one has been given spectacle, and possessed scale.

Clad in a full suite of Yofer aerodynamic architecture, its familiar minimalist silhouette undergoes a clean metamorphosis. The stance descends. The extremities sharpen. The bodywork acquires tension, theatre and an almost architectural sense of proportion.

What was once quietly futuristic now arrives with considerably more ceremony.

And because theatre deserves immaculate lighting, the finale comes in the form of ceramic coating.

The paintwork was meticulously refined before being sealed beneath a glass-like protective layer, amplifying its depth, clarity and reflectivity while introducing hydrophobic resistance against the indignities of daily motoring.

The result is not merely a modified Model YL.

It is Tesla minimalism dressed for opening night.

Aerodynamic augmentation.
Ceramic-fortified brilliance.
An entrance that requires no introduction.

BMW M3 G80 × Venetian Purple

An homage to Twilight Purple, rendered without disturbing a micron of the original paint beneath.

This was selected for its extraordinary fidelity to BMW Individual’s Twilight Purple paintwork.

And fidelity is the operative word.

Rather than merely approximating the factory colour, it recreates a peculiar chromatic duplicity: a dense, almost ecclesiastical plum in shadow, before illumination excavates the violet beneath.

Across the G80’s heavily articulated surfacing, the colour is never entirely stationary. It oscillates between aubergine, amethyst and a deep imperial purple, according to light, curvature and perspective.

The result is less a colour change than an exercise in chromatic mimicry.

There is also an agreeable incongruity to the pairing.

The BMW G80 M3 is fundamentally an extroverted piece of machinery: architecturally aggressive, mechanically obstinate and almost gratuitously muscular. Venetian Purple does not attempt to civilise that aggression. It gives it provenance.

A shade of aristocratic complexion draped over one of Munich’s most pugnacious silhouettes.

We reckon this is peak industrial design elevated into live sculpture.

With the Adro V2 carbon fibre architecture, introduction is sharpened with visual cadence, lending this Tesla Model Y a stance that feels less like an electric crossover and more like an artefact conceived in a wind tunnel, liberated only after every unnecessary line had been excised. It is a study in calculated aggression, where every contour appears inevitable rather than intentional.

Wrapped in Satin Aluminium White, under daylight this finish radiates quiet magnificence. While under evening skies it assumes an almost monolithic gravitas.

A commission carefully curated with a decade of craftsmanship.

The Porsche 911 GT3 Touring (992) exists in a category all its own. It is the quietest expression of Porsche’s motorsport DNA, where restraint carries greater presence than spectacle.

Finished in the iconic Paint-To-Sample Ruby Star, this particular GT3 Touring transcends conventional ideology. Once a bold hallmark of Porsche’s heritage, the Ruby Star option remains one of the marque’s most coveted and seldom-seen factory finishes, reserved for those who appreciate individuality without compromise.

A paint protection project where the finish retains its extraordinary depth, optical clarity, and resilience against the realities of everyday driving, allowing the brilliance of this Paint to Sample masterpiece to endure for years ahead.

Some colours turn heads.

But for the Ruby Star, creating conversations long after the engine falls silent.

After reading about using Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) as the most accurate and professional metric to determine the quality of a window film, the owner of this Tesla Model 3 Highland decided to dispose his initial nano ceramic based window film - simply because he did not feel the difference in the cabin during a blazing hot afternoon at all.

A multi-layer sputtering film outperforms the traditional nano ceramic film any day of the week. The dual “reflect-and-reject” function from the rare earth materials infused within, allows the performance of the our film’s TSER to achieve a market-high of 81%.

This is not rocket science but nano-ceramic based films will never be able to achieve this level of performance, simply because there is no heat reflection function at all.

Often overshadowed by its Stuttgart cousin (the Macan) the Audi SQ5 Sportback occupies an intriguing space within the performance SUV landscape.

The Audi SQ5 answers with understated confidence, effortless long-distance composure, and an interior that remains one of the most meticulously executed in its class.

Finished in Mythos Black Metallic, this 2026 SQ5 reminds us why black remains the definitive automotive colour. It is also the least forgiving. Every contour, every reflection, and every imperfection is magnified.

That is precisely why we recommended and completed this example with our signature Graphene Coating, allowing the paintwork to retain the depth, gloss and clarity that black deserves while making routine maintenance significantly easier.

Some cars demand attention through flamboyance.

Others earn admiration through restraint.

The Audi SQ5 has always belonged to the latter.

No, this is neither sleight of hand nor digital illusion.

It is the manifestation of disciplined craftsmanship, where patience becomes a material in its own right. Every contour is studied, every radius respected, and every section of film is meticulously hand-laid (check out the front bumper) with unwavering precision. The front fascia of the XPeng X9 alone is an orchestration of compound curves and intricate geometry, demanding not haste, but absolute mastery.

Adorned in an audacious dual-tone composition of Satin Racing Green and Satin Liquid Metal Grey Tungsten Steel Coloured PPF, this vehicle transcends conventional aesthetics. Light no longer merely reflects across its surfaces. It is refracted into a quiet spectacle, revealing shifting tonalities and sculptural depth with every change in perspective.

What might once have been mistaken for a digital rendering has been realised in physical form, where engineering converges with artisanal ex*****on. Every seam is intentional. Every transition is imperceptible. Every line honours the original design language while elevating its visual presence into something altogether more extraordinary.

This is not just another PPF project.

It is automotive haute couture, rendered in satin.

There is something quietly compelling about long-standing trust and relationships.

This 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB250+ was sent in immediately after registration for the best of the best.

Confident proportions. Crisp character lines. A design language that balances everyday practicality with unmistakable Mercedes-Benz sophistication.

Our role wasn’t to change its appearance—it was to preserve it.

Wrapped in a Paint Protection Film (PPF), every painted surface now carries an invisible layer of protection against the inevitable wear that accompanies daily driving, while retaining the factory finish exactly as intended.

Not to forget the high traffic high exposure interior panels were also seamlessly protected by our craftsmen.

No distractions.
No compromise.
Just meticulous craftsmanship dedicated to ensuring the vehicle looks as remarkable years from now as it does today.

Some finishes are made to impress.

The best ones are made to endure.
