The Subaru Legacy

First introduced in 1989 as Subaru’s mid-sized car. It has gone thru seven generations and has always been the Subaru model to showcase new technologies from the company. The Legacy was used to kickstart Subaru’s foray into the World Rally Championship before Subaru decided to create the WRX.

Here we have two examples of the 4th generation model, arguably the most successful and handsome of all the Legacy generations. The 4th generation was launched in 2003 and carried the chassis code of BL (sedan) and BP (wagon). These cars offered a great balance of luxury, comfort, power, handling and were amongst the most powerful sedans you could buy from any Japanese maker at the time. 20years on, they are still no slouch on the road. The owner of the one on the right regular brings it to trackdays and turns up lap times that rival much younger cars.

Sadly Subaru has just announced that the Legacy will be discontinued from 2025.
