As you accelerate and start to pick up speed, the car will work out when best to change gears. If you are accelerating slowly, it will likely choose to shift up sooner. If you are accelerating quickly, the gear shift will be delayed to get maximum power from the engine. Doesn't it sound how a DSG transmission should behave?

In a real-life application, this is how differentiated a daily driver feels.

1. It is not always a smooth take-off and noticeable pause when R is engaged.
2. When you are accelerating slowly/cruising, it shifts quickly and early into illogical gear, with mismatched throttle inputs resulting in a lethargic drive experience.
3. In S mode when you are accelerating quickly, the gear hold aggressively results in very late upshifting and (too) early downshifting.
4. Pop out of gear while the driver wants to stay in the same gear

This makes the keen driver less satisfactory.

The DSG gearbox has various symptoms and irritations regarding drivability and shifting. Performing an in-depth DSG diagnosis is always the best approach to getting the right solution.
