Despite it's lower horsepower figures compared to the "King" of luxury MPV, Alphard/Velfire. This elegant beauty is not to be taken lightly.
I'm sure those of you with enough research and knowledge would say this car is more suited to compare with Toyota's Estima. However, Honda has included much more features into their latest Odyssey which in my opinion, leveled up this car to be on the same challenging platform as the alphard or velfire.
Seating in the drivers seat, first things you realise is that these new leatherette seats are super comfortable. Secondly, you are welcomed by a clean looking digital gauge cluster and a steering wheel full of useful buttons for controlling things like your audio, hands free mobile controls, gauge display information and last but not least, cruise control.
Setting aside all these wonderful gadgets for the driver to play with, lets talk about the drive feel.
Driving this almost behemoth of a car isnt so different from your typical family sized SUV or station wagen The pickup is smooth and adequet for city driving all thanks to Honda's new E:HEV technology. It feels almost like you are driving a car the size of a Shuttle.
As you get into the 2nd row passenger seats, thats where this beast starts to display its new found talents. Equipped with pilot seats, these seats recline to an almost 180° like you are flying in first class with leg rest too! It is incredibly comfortable and enjoyable for anyone seating in the 2nd row. The only way to explain these seats in words that anyone would understand is that these seats suck you into a whole different space.
As for the last row of seats, it is as anyone would expect from any 7 seater MPV. Except that identical soft comfortable cushion is also used for that bench seating.
The alphard being the king of MPV. Has it's flaws. Which the odyssey has overcome in my opinion. That would be boot space. With it's deep floor at the boot, you are still able to store quite a bit of luggage while maintaining 7 seats. And if you didn't utilise it to it's full capacity, you could also fold the bench seats down into the floor which gives you in return a huge rear cargo space. This cargo space is great for adventure seeking people despite this vehicle not being built as a SUV. Based on dimensions you could easily fit about 2-3 full sized bikes🚴♂️ without having to fold them!😱 Who knows? You could even possibly camp🛌 out in the back of this vehicle if you wished to do so 😉🤐
Ps. Do remember to blackout your windows if you were to intend to "camp-out". I promise I wouldn't peek😊🤫.
