WRC Round 13 Rally Italia Sardegna saw TGR-WRT celebrate record-equalling titles with Solberg’s win.
On Sunday, October 4, the final day of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Round 13 Rally Italia Sardegna took place in Alghero, northwestern Sardegna. The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team (TGR-WRT) duo of Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin (GR Yaris Rally1, Car No. 33) secured the first Drivers’ and Co-drivers’ championship titles of their careers.
The championship battle between Evans and Solberg went down to the final Power Stage. Solberg pushed hard, maintaining his lead, but went off the road near the finish and failed to secure any Power Stage points. Evans and Martin, despite the disadvantageous starting position, held the top spot and finally achieved their dream of becoming champions.
Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson (Car No. 99) won the rally. Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais (Car No. 1) finished second overall, Sami Pajari and Marko Salminen (Car No. 5) from TGR-WRT2 finished third overall, and Takamoto Katsuta and Aaron Johnston (Car No. 18) finished sixth overall.
Evans became the first Welsh driver to win the world championship, while Martin became the first English person to win the WRC co-drivers’ title. This marks the seventh time in the past eight years that TGR-WRT crew has become world champions.
The team secured the Manufacturers’ title at Rally Chile, Biobío, marking their fifth consecutive win of all three available titles. With new WRC regulations set to be introduced in 2027, this victory marked the final battle and the final triumph for the GR YARIS Rally1 after five seasons. ENDLESS will continue to develop brake components to compete alongside the team in the WRC as it enters a new era.
