We received a video of an achievement in one of our project cars. What we've done here is a full integration of an instrument cluster from the latest generation of Saab 9-5NG into a Saab 9-3NG. The two vehicles operate with completely different electrical systems. We've replaced mainly three parts from the 9-3, the BCM, the ISM and the CIM with our own BCM. On top of this, we've programmed the appropriate CAN bus messages to wake up the old nodes and to communicate the correct key state. Last but not least, we've added the correct can bus messages to interface with the new instrument cluster. The 9-5NG is built on the General Motors GlobalA platform which is utilized by most GM brands from 2010-2020.

With this video we would like to point out the endless possibilities of integrating more modern car parts into your older vehicelk using our globalXCM product line.

We will soon publish a tech-article describing this work more in detail. Make sure to stay up to date and read more at www.globalxcm.com

We have a passion for cars and especially modified cars. There are plenty of aftermarket parts for upgrading your car but one area is still somewhat of a holy ground: car electronics. Up until today no real solution for customizing the functionality of your car electronics exist. Globalxcm aim at changing this by developing opensource vehicle control modules. Our first product is the Body Control Module (BCM) which acts as a central node to control and monitor all convenience functionality of your car such as:

External Lights (Headlights, Indicators, Fog Lights e.t.c.)
Internal Lights (Reading Lamps, Mood Lamps, Door Lamps e.t.c.)
Alarm (Door Sensors, Glass Sensors, sirens e.t.c)
Driver Inputs (Stalks, Light Switches, Black Panel e.t.c)
Human to Machine Interfaces (HMIs) (Instrument Clusters e.t.c)
Power Windows
Sunroofs
Window Wiper & Washers

The source code is open and the BCM can be programmed using regular C code or as a regular Arduino. The possibilities are endless but to give you a flying start we've developed an electrical schematic to start from. Since the code is opensource you are free to develop whatever functionality you want. Why not add automatic DRL to your enthusiast vehicle?

Our devBoard supports our customers in evaluating the functionality of their globalXCM openBCM in a safe environment prior to laborating on their physical vehicle. The devBoard consists of all common lights, driver inputs and functionality as well as an OBDII-connector, power supply and connectors to the BCM. All inputs and simulated outputs are conveniently placed on corresponding places of an image of a car.

Can you see which car it is?

Did you know that our Body Control Module is delivered with a complete software to control convenience functionality of your vehicle? The software is Open Source and written in the well-known Arduino Graphical User Interface. All our code utilize existing Arduino functionality based on the Arduino DUE hardware.
There is a massive knowledge base in the Arduino Community which makes it easy for you as a customer to develop and maintain your own code.
