More range balls don’t always solve a range ball shortage.

It might sound counterintuitive, but if the real bottleneck is collection, washing or transport, adding more balls means more balls waiting in the system.

A range ball only creates value when it’s back in the dispenser, and that’s why operators should look beyond the numbers and ask:

How efficiently are our balls moving through the entire cycle?

Read our latest blog to discover why improving ball flow can have a greater operational impact than simply increasing inventory.

Sidcup Family Golf’s new washroom speaks for itself.

Clean flow, fresh steel, and a system built to perform.

This Trackman range champions a modern, inclusive approach to golf, reflected throughout the range and now inside the washroom.

Robotic picking changes more than the way you collect balls. It changes what needs to happen next.

Once a robot is picking balls from the outfield, the question becomes: where do those balls go?

That’s where the infrastructure matters.

The Ditch gives the robot somewhere to drop balls
The Elevator moves the balls into the washroom
The Washer completes a high capacity, intense wash
The second Elevator moves them back to the dispenser

A simple loop—but one that removes a surprising amount of manual handling from the operation.

For ranges considering robotic picking, the robot is only one part of the conversation. The real opportunity comes from thinking about the whole ball journey, from outfield to bay.

Because automation isn’t just about replacing a task. It’s about redesigning the process around it.

Every driving range has a throughput limit.

It isn’t always obvious where that limit is. Some facilities are constrained by ball collection. Others by washing capacity. Others simply by how quickly clean balls can be returned to the dispenser.

Understanding where that bottleneck exists is often the first step towards improving range efficiency.

This video shows the connected approach—a ball management system operating continuously at our US headquarters, where washing, transport and dispensing work as part of the same process.

As driving ranges continue to evolve, attention is shifting from individual machines to the performance of a connected system that improves the entire workflow.

Because each stage depends on the next, improving the flow of balls through the system is often more effective than simply increasing the speed of one individual task.

Balls leave the dispenser and drop into a bucket. They’re carried to a bay, and with one strike, the journey begins.

Seven iron. 140 yards.
A ball lands on the outfield.

For a while, it joins thousands of others scattered across the range…

Automation isn’t a trend anymore. It’s becoming the benchmark for modern driving ranges.

Nestled in the Provençal countryside, La Grande Bastide Golf Resort is embracing a new way of operating with automated support. Behind the scenes, an upgraded washroom keeps the range stocked—washing, moving and supplying balls throughout the day.

The bays look a little different too. With Tee Box Gen 3 in-bay dispensing and Trackman integration, players step into a connected practice experience and start swinging until the session ends.

The result? A more streamline way of operating.

No buckets
No interruptions
No bottlenecks

Modern range technology doesn’t add complexity, it removes friction.

What do airports and golf facilities have in common?

At first glance, very little.

One moves millions of passengers around the world. The other helps golfers improve their game. Yet behind the scenes, both face a surprisingly similar challenge: moving large volumes of assets efficiently, consistently, and with as little disruption as possible.

For airports, it’s luggage.
For driving ranges, it’s golf balls.

From reducing queues and improving customer flow, to embracing automation and data-driven decision making, many of the operational challenges are surprisingly similar.

Great industrial design doesn’t end with an idea. It comes to life through precision, craftsmanship, and the engineer-level ex*****on that brings it to reality.

This World Industrial Design Day, we’re celebrating the teams behind Range Servant machinery—and recognising the expertise that turns great ideas into solutions operators can rely on for decades.

As operators know too well, reliability rules the range. True design excellence is measured in the confidence of pressing start every morning, knowing everything will work exactly as it should.

From the initial prototype to the finished product on the assembly line, that commitment is built into everything we do.

To the minds that design the future, and the hands that build it—happy World Industrial Design Day.
