What an inspiring day with the Acoat Selected network in Silkeborg.

On 25 September, customers, partners, and colleagues gathered at College 360 for a day focused on knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration across the collision repair industry.

The programme included exciting product presentations from SATA and 3M, showcasing the latest solutions and technologies supporting bodyshops and repair professionals. Participants also had the opportunity to experience the products hands-on through live demonstrations and testing sessions in the spray booth, giving valuable practical insight into the latest applications and techniques.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming René Tönder as guest speaker, delivering insightful content tailored specifically to the aftermarket sector with a strong focus on the collision repair market.

In addition, participants gained valuable insights into assistance with valuation and assessment in Denmark, including topics related to damage assessment processes within the automotive repair industry.

Throughout the day, there were many great discussions, shared experiences, and valuable networking opportunities — all highlighting the importance of strong partnerships and continuous development across our industry.

At AkzoNobel, we believe exceptional finishes should do more than protect a surface — they should elevate craftsmanship and help tell the story behind every build. The 32 Ford Foose Fenderless is a striking example of that philosophy in practice.

Ray Hill alongside Chip Foose, the objective was clear from the beginning: preserve and showcase Bobby Walden’s extraordinary metal craftsmanship through a finish that felt authentic, timeless, and true to the car’s character. Rather than conceal the hand-built details, the selected patina approach was designed to celebrate them.

The final result captures the essence of a carefully preserved “barn find,” achieved through layered visual effects including scratches, chips, subtle cracking, and period-correct panel pinstriping, all sealed beneath a refined flat clear finish. Every detail was intentionally crafted to create depth, realism, and historical character while maintaining the highest standards of finish quality.

Even the interior reinforces the narrative, featuring cloth sourced from vintage Fender amplifiers — a thoughtful detail that gives even greater meaning to the name “Fenderless.”

Projects like this demonstrate how advanced coatings expertise and creative vision can come together to support truly distinctive automotive craftsmanship.
