How to park a campervan in Portugal, without being the reason the rules get stricter.
Every van spread across three spaces makes it harder for the next one. Fewer spots. More signs. More fines.

One van, one space. Park inside the lines. Chairs, tables and awnings stay inside the van. Spreading out is called “aparcamento”, and it’s only allowed in campsites and authorised areas.
Overnight in a campervan in Portugal. Allowed for up to 48 hours in the same municipality, unless a sign or local rule says otherwise. “Overnight” means 10pm to 7am with people inside.

Leave the place better then you found it. Take your rubbish. Grey water only at service points.
Small habits. They’re the reason the there are still spots open to vans.

Is autumn a good time to visit Portugal? Honestly, one of the best. October afternoons on the coast still sit around 20°C. The beaches empty out. And the evenings are made for staying in.

Travelling Portugal by campervan doesn’t have to mean giving up comfort.
