Punjab Government ne finally gaadiyon ke dhuwan test ka pura plan aur deadline announce kar di hai. Punjab Transport and Mass Transit Department ke mutabiq ye sab Smog Action Plan ka hissa hai, taake smog season shuru hone se pehle zyada dhuwan chorne wali gaadiyon ko pakra ja sake. Notice me saaf likha hai ke 15 October 2026 tak sab ko apna fitness certificate lena hoga, uske baad checking shuru ho jayegi.

Test ka tareeka ye hai ke aapki gari ko licensed PVICS centre pe check kiya jayega ke uska exhaust Punjab Provincial Transport Authority ke standard par hai ya nahi. Pass hone par aapko 1 saal ke liye valid certificate milega. Shuru me ye rule private cars aur light transport vehicles ke liye hai, aur har saal renew karwana hoga.

Fees ka schedule bhi PTA ne notify kar diya hai. 1000cc tak Rs500, 1000cc se 1500cc tak Rs800, 1500cc se 2500cc tak Rs1000, 2500cc se 4500cc tak Rs1500, aur 4500cc se upar Rs2000 fees hai.

Poore Punjab me abhi 13 centres hain jo awam ki sahulat ke liye 24/7 khulay hain, Sunday ko bhi. In me se 8 Lahore me hain - Valencia, Chuburji, Zaib Center DHA EME, Begampura, Bosch Longsight Motors Airport Road, Johar Town, Raiwind Road aur PIA Road wale. Baqi centres Rahim Yar Khan, Sadiqabad, Faisalabad aur Multan me hain. Sirf licensed centre se hi certificate lena hoga.

Documentation bhi simple hai. Agar gari Punjab number ki hai to bas le jao. Agar doosre province ki hai to registration card aur NIC sath le jana hoga aur NIC ka naam registration se match hona chahiye. Deadline miss ki to Smog Rules 2023 ke tehat pehli dafa Rs2000 aur doosri dafa Rs4000 fine hai, usse zyada bhi ho sakta hai.

BYD has announced a big recall in China. The company is calling back over 183,000 of its Qin and Tang models due to a brake related issue. According to the report, the brake stopper pad in these cars can crack over time, which causes the brake lights to stay on even when the driver is not braking. This can confuse other drivers on the road and increase the risk of an accident. The affected cars were produced between 2014 and 2022. BYD said it will replace the faulty part for free for all customers.

BYD is all set to change the game in Pakistan. The Chinese auto giant is building a $150 million plant in Gharo, Sindh, in partnership with Mega Motor Company. This will be Pakistan's first proper New Energy Vehicle factory and it is expected to start production by late 2026. The plant can make 25,000 cars in a year on double shift.

This is a big deal because for years Suzuki, Toyota and Honda have been ruling the market with almost 97% share. BYD came to Pakistan last year with imported EVs and the response was much better than expected, sales crossed targets by 30%. Now with local assembly, prices will go down and more people will be able to buy EVs and plug-in hybrids. The company is also bringing models like the Shark 6 pickup to cover different segments.

To solve the charging problem, BYD and HUBCO Green have already installed 19 fast chargers from Karachi to Peshawar and 20 to 30 more are coming on highways and cities. The government has also reduced electricity tariff for chargers by 45% and kept only 1% sales tax on locally made EVs. If everything goes as planned, Pakistan could even become an export hub for right-hand drive countries. This is clearly a direct challenge to Toyota and Honda, and the competition is just getting started.

Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has officially activated its Vehicular Emission Scanning System (VESS) at all major entry points of Lahore. The modern remote sensing setup has been installed 1 KM before Lahore, where it scans moving vehicles for excessive smoke and harmful emissions without stopping them. The system includes an infrared detector, retroreflector and ANPR camera that automatically identifies smoke-emitting vehicles and generates e-challans. According to EPA officials, more than 350,000 vehicles have already obtained green stickers after passing emission tests, while vehicles from 2010-2015 without certification are receiving warning slips in the first phase. During the smog season, entry of vehicles without a valid green sticker into Lahore will be strictly prohibited.
