IMPORTANT TRAFFIC ADVISORY — SHAHRAH-E-BHUTTO

Important instructions from DIG East for the public and police personnel deployed on Shahrah-e-Bhutto.

🚫 Motorcycles, rickshaws and bicycles are NOT permitted on Shahrah-e-Bhutto.

Despite clear signage at the entry points, some motorcycle, rickshaw and bicycle riders continue to enter the highway, creating a serious safety risk. Accidents involving motorcycles have occurred in the past, and such violations could lead to a major accident at any time.

Police & Traffic Police personnel have been directed to:
• Properly guide riders approaching the entry points.
• Prevent motorcycles, rickshaws and bicycles from entering Shahrah-e-Bhutto.
• Send violators back and issue challans in accordance with the law.
• Ensure that all personnel on duty also fully comply with the restriction.

🏍️ 🛺 🚲 A clear message to motorcycle, rickshaw and bicycle riders:
Please do not enter or travel on Shahrah-e-Bhutto. Use designated alternative routes to avoid inconvenience, fines and, most importantly, the risk of a serious accident.

Challans are being issued to vehicles coming from the wrong side at Landi Kotal Chowrangi, North Nazimabad.
Motorists are advised to follow the correct traffic direction and avoid driving on the wrong side to prevent fines and ensure road safety.

Ziauddin Hospital, North Nazimabad → Karimabad

All vehicles travelling from Ziauddin Hospital, North Nazimabad towards Karimabad are advised to be extremely careful. One-way spike strips have been installed after the bridge.

❌ Do not drive on the wrong side of the road.
Driving against the designated traffic direction may cause the spike strips to puncture or burst your tyres.

Please follow the correct direction, stay in your lane, and drive safely.

Karachi Traffic Chaos — 24 August 2026

Karachi witnessed one of the worst traffic jams in recent memory on the evening of 24 August 2026.

Due to protests and road closures, the whole city was virtually stuck. Major roads and arteries remained gridlocked, leaving thousands of commuters stranded for hours.

A truly difficult evening for Karachi.

Elphinstone Street, Karachi – Mid-1980s

یہ تصویر 1980ء کی دہائی کے وسط میں ایلفنسٹن اسٹریٹ (موجودہ زیب النساء اسٹریٹ) پر رش کے اوقات میں لی گئی تھی۔ اُن دنوں اس سڑک پر ٹریفک آج کے برعکس مخالف سمت میں چلتی تھی۔ سڑک پر رش ضرور تھا اور گاڑیاں بمپر ٹو بمپر چل رہی تھیں، مگر ٹریفک میں ایک نمایاں نظم و ضبط نظر آتا تھا۔

اس تصویر کی سب سے خاص بات یہ ہے کہ تمام گاڑیاں اپنی اپنی لین میں چل رہی ہیں۔ نہ کوئی بلاوجہ اوور ٹیک کر رہا ہے، نہ قطار توڑ رہا ہے اور نہ ہی دوسری گاڑیوں کو نظر انداز کرتے ہوئے آگے نکلنے کی کوشش کر رہا ہے۔ یہ اس دور کے ٹریفک نظم و ضبط اور قوانین کے احترام کی ایک خوبصورت مثال ہے۔

ایک اور قابلِ غور بات یہ ہے کہ اس منظر میں نہ موٹر سائیکلوں کا ہجوم دکھائی دیتا ہے اور نہ ہی تین پہیوں والے رکشاؤں کی بھرمار۔ اس کی ایک اہم وجہ یہ بھی تھی کہ اُن دنوں ایلفنسٹن اسٹریٹ پر موٹر سائیکلوں اور تین پہیوں والے رکشاؤں کے داخلے کی اجازت نہیں تھی، جس کے باعث ٹریفک نسبتاً منظم اور روانی کے ساتھ چلتی تھی۔

آج کراچی تیزی سے موٹر سائیکلوں اور تین پہیوں والے رکشاؤں کا شہر بنتا جا رہا ہے۔ گاڑیوں کی بڑھتی ہوئی تعداد کے ساتھ ٹریفک کو منظم رکھنا پہلے سے کہیں زیادہ بڑا چیلنج بن چکا ہے۔

یہاں ایک اہم سوال بھی پیدا ہوتا ہے: اگر آج دوبارہ ایسی ہی پابندیاں نافذ کر دی جائیں، تو کیا ہم بحیثیت شہری ان پر اسی طرح عمل کریں گے؟ ٹریفک کا بہتر نظام صرف قوانین بنانے سے نہیں بلکہ شہریوں کے شعور، نظم و ضبط اور قوانین کی پابندی سے بھی قائم ہوتا ہے۔
