1944, Zündapp KS 750 | Germany 🇩🇪

The Zündapp KS 750 was equipped with a 751 cc flat-twin, 4-stroke engine (26 h.p. at 4000 rpm), it had a wheel suspension control system, an economy driving system preventing engine overheating, magneto ignition and a fuel tank emergency filter.
With the sidecar, this motorcycle had a mass of 420 kg, but it was, nevertheless, easy to control. The sidecar featured torsion-bar suspension, having a wheel drive and brake from the rear axle of the motorcycle. A machine gun was mounted in the front of the machine and the ammunition pouches were affixed on the left and the right side of its body.

The Zündapp KS 750 motorcycles that were intended for European countries were painted dark grey, while motorcycles for North Africa were painted dark yellow. This motorcycle was designed for off-road rides over very rough terrain and, as such, had higher off-road capacity and maneuverability; it was also used for reconnaissance, transporting military personnel and various cargo, and for the evacuation of the wounded.

Harley-Davidson U | USA 🇺🇸, 1945.

Launched in 1937, the Harley-Davidson U series of motorbikes, which replaced the V series, consisted of six models. Among the three motorbikes with an engine displacement of 1213cc, the U model was the base model, the US model came with a sidecar and the UL model had a high compression ratio engine. The three motorbikes with an engine displacement of 1311 cc - UH, USH and ULH had respectively similar characteristics.

All models of the series were equipped with V-shaped engines with valves at an angle of 45 °, ignition from magneto, dry sump lubrication system, located on a tubular duplex frame. Gear shifting was manual by means of a lever attached to the petrol tank. The gearbox was a three-speed transmission, with a chain to the rear wheel. Front suspension was parallelogram with friction damper, rear suspension was unsprung.

During the period from 1938 to 1945, about 2100 copies of U-series motorbikes in different modifications were delivered to the army. The total number of U-series motorbikes produced was 33129 copies during 12 years of production from 1937 to 1949.
