As you all know, Upshift Motoring has been not-so-subtly hinting at our latest restoration project, and here it is!

Behold the Toyota Mark II JZX90 - a legendary, mythical, luxury mammoth. 💥

We'll be embarking on a ground-up restoration guided by the owner's ambitious blueprint, which promises to push us to new heights. 🚀

We are done with removing the floor boards and abomination of the doors and fenders by the previous owner and welding new pieces on to the body. 😅
Our plan from the beginning was to get the car's body back to its original shape and lines and that's what we're striving for!
Now, roof of the car remains and then the car will go for sanding and get prepared for the paint job (We'll be going for a livery 🫣)

Engine shopping for our RX-7 Project
While looking for the engine swap we consider these factors
1) Reliability: As this project is meant to be a daily driven cruiser, we need an engine with good reliability hence Toyota engines directly come into mind
2) High revving engine: As this is a sports car, it is expected it'll be doing launches, donuts and slides so, it is always a good idea to go for an engine with a high rev range
3) The obvious one but horsepower: As this car weighs under 1100 kilos, we don't need an engine that has big torque numbers however, we need an engine that's fast to give it that sports car feel it deserves.

For people who recently started following this build. It looked awful from behind. 🤢🤧😷

This is the progress we've made in 18 days, incredible isn't it?
The toughest part was the rear end because of the fabrication done by the previous owner to fit the Civic EK's taillights and the rust present there. Hence why we started from the rear and we'll move towards the roof then sides and eventually the front end which needs very little work comparatively.

It was my dream to own my dad's RX-7 that he sold 30 years ago. Through a friend, I got lucky and I bought this car a few months ago with a lot of body work needing love. So, we just started restoring the body to stock look and will undergo a complete restoration of this beautiful Mazda RX-7 FB!
