Over time, constant exposure to exhaust gases causes carbon buildup inside the valve and surrounding pipes. This buildup can cause the valve to stick open or closed, leading to rough idling, weak acceleration, poor fuel economy, increased emissions, and an illuminated Check Engine Light.
EGR cleaning refers to the process of removing stubborn carbon, soot, and oil deposits from a vehicle’s Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. This emissions-control system routes a portion of exhaust gases back into the engine's intake to lower combustion temperatures and reduce harmful Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions.

•Manual Removal and Soaking: For heavily clogged systems, the valve is completely removed from the engine block. Technicians will use a carbon scraper, wire brush, and chemical solvents to manually clean the pintle and housing, followed by an overnight soak if necessary.
