Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled a super-fast Flash Charging system that can deliver up to 1,500 kW, letting EVs charge almost as quickly as filling up a gas tank.

With its Blade Battery 2.0, compatible cars can go from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes and even in extreme cold (โ€‘30 ยฐC / โ€‘22 ยฐF), a 20% to 97% charge takes only 12 minutes.

BYD has big plans: 20,000 charging stations across China by the end of 2026, with over 4,000 already up and running.

Highways will get stations about every 100 km, and cities will have chargers just a few kilometers apart. The company also wants to expand internationally, though exact countries havenโ€™t been announced yet.

The stations feature a suspended overhead design, keeping cables off the ground and making charging easier and safer. Vehicles can plug in from either side, and the setup supports pull-through layouts for trailers or tight spaces.
